Burst Pipe Repair — 24/7 Emergency Service in the Sutherland Shire

A burst pipe can release hundreds of litres an hour into your walls, ceiling and floors. Every minute counts, and the damage bill climbs fast. Accurate Plumbing provides emergency burst pipe repair across the Sutherland Shire, 24 hours a day — licensed (Lic. No. L55), insured, and local since 1965.

Burst Pipe? Do This First

While you’re waiting for us to arrive, these three steps limit the damage:
  1. Turn off the water at the mains. Your water meter is usually near the front boundary — turn the tap clockwise until it stops. This alone stops most of the flooding.
  2. Switch off electricity to affected areas at the switchboard if water is anywhere near power points, wiring or light fittings. Don’t touch anything electrical while standing in water.
  3. Move belongings and soak up standing water. Photograph the damage before you clean up — your insurer will want it.
If the burst is on your hot water line, also turn off the isolation valve at the hot water unit.

Our Burst Pipe Repair Service

We locate the burst, repair or replace the damaged section, and pressure-test the line before we leave. We handle:
  • Burst water mains and supply lines — under slabs, in walls, in ceilings and underground
  • Split copper and galvanised pipes — including corroded pipework in older Shire homes
  • Burst flexible hoses — the number-one cause of indoor flooding, usually under sinks and vanities
  • Hot water line bursts and failed connections
  • Repairing broken water pipes damaged by tree roots, ground movement or renovation work
We carry the fittings for copper, PEX, poly and galvanised on the van, so most repairs are completed in the one visit rather than left capped off overnight.

Why Pipes Burst in Sutherland Shire Homes

A lot of Shire housing dates from the 1960s to 1980s, and the original pipework is now at the age where it fails. The usual culprits we see:
  • Corroded galvanised steel pipes — these rust from the inside out and eventually split, common in pre-1980s homes
  • Perished flexible hose connectors — these have a lifespan of about 5–10 years and burst without warning; if yours are older, replace them before they fail
  • Tree roots and ground movement — cracking underground supply lines
  • Water hammer — repeated pressure shock loosening joints over time
  • Accidental damage during renovations, landscaping or fence installation
